Operation Bodhi: Breaking the monk code.

Dalayan Adventurer
So, I've set out on the task of finding the damage and delay of monk fists with regards to damage on gloves and str/dex. I used harthuk lords(55) in Great Divide at first, but then moved to undead guardmans(48,49) in E/W Freeport for their lack of crit melee. All fights are in /s 1 from the front and attack was initiated by me using invis and skeleton illusion in freeport. All fights were with single mobs.

-Subject Poohda
-Parser GamParse v1.5.0.2
-buffs: Aego, Empower, Flight of the Eagles, Illusion:Skeleton(in freeport), small str/dex buffs when needed to calibrate for gear changes.
-All gloves used were poison damage. Weapons were both 8/18.
-Cloth Gloves, 0 Damage, 233 Str, 230 Dex. (4702 Swings on 19 guardsman. 4557 Swings on 8 Lords.)
-Venom Claws, 1 Damage, 233 Str, 230 Dex. (2344 GM. 2241 Lords.)
-Hands of the Webspinner, 2 Damage, 234 Str, 230 Dex. (2464 GM. 2652 Lords.)
-Flowing Red Leaf-wraps, 3 Damage, 233 Str, 230 Dex. (2093 GM. 2258 Lords.)
-MH Mithril Knuckles, OH The Widower, 233 Str, 230 Dex. (9344 GM. N/A Lords.)

DELAY
So, I'll start with delay. For each scenario I calculated over-all swings per second. Here's that data.

-Undead Guardsman
Weapons: 5.276 Swing per second
0 Dam: 5.196
1 Dam: 2.719
2 Dam: 3.446
3 Dam: 3.020

-Harthuk Lords
Weapons: N/A (didn't get to this yet)
0 Dam: 5.280
1 Dam: 2.763
2 Dam: 3.449
3 Dam: 3.072

From here it gets a little tricky, but I think clearly bare fists are 18 delay or very close. If I were to scale off the 5.276 number and use guardsman data we get: 34.93, 27.56, 31.45 as delays. If I were to combine the datas, I get 34.5, 27.41, 31.03. I definitely need more data to refine this(I'm just getting started), but I think I'm parsing pretty smoothly. It's still questionable if partial delays (and damage) are possible or a reality.

DMG
Now with damage, I am going to start by using the average hit. I didn't know if to use the data coming from The Widower because it was hitting for 3% less perhaps due to +21 HtH skill, but I plan on parsing the effects of that out further also(-4% accuracy also fyi). I am using it for now. The parser includes Crippling Strikes (not Crits) in regular melee damage and data with crits takes longer to smooth out, so the Lord data I'm thinking is a little less reliable. Also comparing the two isn't useful obviously.

-Undead Guardsman
Weapons: 26.27
0 Dam: 42.15
1 Dam: 85.15
2 Dam: 80.36
3 Dam: 93.61

-Harthuk Lords
Weapons: N/A (didn't get to this yet)
0 Dam: 49.80
1 Dam: 101.1
2 Dam: 87.90
3 Dam: 101.2

Scaling off 26.63 as 8 damage using Undead Guardman data, we get 12.83, 25.93, 24.47, 28.51.
Scaling off assuming 0 damage gloves are 13 damage on Lords Yields 13, 26.39, 22.94, 26.41.
Well, I'm doing much better finding the delay. And I think we might be seeing the lord and the guards to some extent resisting my poison damage on gloves some. Maybe I'll play with CHA and/or Malo later on.

Accuracy, mob avoidance, dps.

Accuracy goes way up when using fists vs 1handers. 92.6% fists vs 74.2% 1Hers (on Undead Guardsman). But the mobs avoidance (dodge, parry, riposte) of said attacks also goes up. Total hits was 79.5% fists vs 65.4% 1handers. So attacking from the back will give a greater gain with fists vs 1handers via that mechanic that attacking from the front.

Approximate ratios if whole numbered (guess for now)
0dam 13/18
1dam 26/34
2dam 22/27
3dam 26/31

DPS (counting punches only)
-Undead Guardsman
Weapons 8/18: 89.4
0 Dam: 174.2
1 Dam: 183.5
2 Dam: 221.3
3 Dam: 224.2

-Harthuk Lords
Weapons: N/A (didn't get to this yet)
0 Dam: 200.5
1 Dam: 214
2 Dam: 225.4
3 Dam: 230.5

There's little gained in going from 2 to 3 gloves. That is the only conclusion I'm somewhat confident in so far =)

Stuff to work on:
-str/dex effects (plan on isolating the regular effect from str and dex using weapons)
-effects of charisma/malo on +fist damage
-effects of +H2H
-2hb comparisons maybe
-possible effect on mobs dps from weapons/fists/2hb (need to do a little work on harthuks for this. Guardman's dps too low)
-refining data
-figure out if decimal damage and delay is possible, i.e. 23.4/28.2 weapon.
-post raw data somewhere

PS Does anyone have any ideas for me? If someone wants to lend me a t9+ monk, I'd be interested. Or better yet, I'll lend you mine and you can make him t9+ =)

Going to work with Poohda some more today. Maybe I'll take up that offer, we'll see how much energy I have for this.

Ok, here's what I learned today. Undead have +10% mitigation at night, marring my average damage from above, so I had to redo a lot of parsing.

-No gloves appears to produce a different result as wearing cloth gloves.

-I believe bare hands is true 13/18 with no str/dex modifier and putting on 0 damage gloves allows the str/dex effect to be added on. It appears there is a small negative delay added from +233str/230dex. So, no gloves can be more dps than putting on 0 damage gloves (if str/dex is low enough). This parsed consistently through 20,000 attempts each and showed the same with 18delay weapons. I'll find out this answer soon when I work with str/dex.

Here's my results for glove damage not including str/dex effects(going to edit above to avoid confusion):
0damage: 13/18
1damage: 26/34
2damage: 22/27
3damage: 26/31

Scaled DPS:
0damage: 100
1damage: 106
2damage: 113
3damage: 116

I'm pretty sure decimal ratio's are possible in some form, but this is my best guess...It seems to hold with the DPS numbers I'm showing.

:To be continued

But what about specializations? Having points in blade/strike will affect h2h, and blunt/avoid will affect 1hb, obviously.

Yes, I'm not taking too much stock into the 1hb I was using (I was using it because it was 8/18). The delay seemed unaffected. The damage/accuracy was affected and not used in my figurin.

I have both those specs maxed out, if that is the question. I wasn't really trying to figure out the effect of +hth. It was more something I stumbled upon and would require a lot more parsing to pin down I think. I need 2 equal ratio weapons (1 hth, 1 1hb) that I can switch hands with also.
