Here is what seems like a super easy workaround to this, though it comes at a slight penalty to immersion. Rename all items with +1HB skill so that they have the phrase +x1HB on the end of the name.

Yeah, I saw it too, now that you mention it. I think it had to do with the GFlux effect throwing an error because we had lev on, which would explain why we all only moved up a tiny amount each time. I bet it has something to do with that, because I don't recall seeing that error on the first run.
