I ended up reformating down to Win 7 and it fixed the issue. Haha.

Fixed it -- I needed to uninstall AVG and run the gave via EQ:W. Weird!

Update: After starting in Safe Mode, I opened the patcher via admin. When it was done patching and went to run the next step, I was given the error: surface_lock: Blit failed! Any idea what is occurring?

Even though I am the administrator, the patcher seems to be treating me like I am not. I can't view/change the file in anyway that an admin should be able to.

Uh, so... after I run the patcher, it: deletes (or hides?) my eqgame.exe and then changes the patcher's permissions, saying I cannot use it because I don't have authority to do so (even though I'm the administrator). wtf?
