Recommend some music

All are post-rock, a sort of instrumental-driven style using instruments used typically for "rock" (ie guitar, bass, drums), though Sigur Ros and mum have their own additional instruments (piano, strings, some weird thing that I have no idea what it is).

sigur ros play the electric guitar with a violin bow. i'm pretty sure that is the "weird thing that you have no idea what it is".

I'm aware of that, so I'm 99% sure that wasn't what I was talking about. I don't remember exactly I was talking about. Definitely not that, though.

--edit--

After actually reading what I wrote, I was referring to múm, not sigur rós. They have a weird sound I can't identify.

Woot for.... The Decemberists

So funny... a friend of mine from high school (well an acquaintance more really) started a band called the Novemberists...

I would probably toss in some sneaker pimps as well, not to mention some of the mellower VNV nation songs, but then again I'm a big devotee of trance, trip-hop, and techno.
