Oh, I'm badly mistaken about JB, you want to use the Ancient, just looked it up in the spell parser and it gives 30 spell FT to the pet, whereas JB is only 18. So that detriment isn't even a detriment! So assuming you are running WoN your pet has like 38 spell FT.

The Runic pet gets the benefit of your focus effects and FT if I understand correctly. It also benefits from spell FT and worn FT so if you get your pet a hit of your ancient haste on it (since it has mana regen) and a FT stick from a friendly mage the pet can keep mana up pretty solid...
